Good to know

Frequently asked

Is vinegar safe to use around pets?
Yes — white vinegar is one of the safest cleaners once it has dried and been rinsed. The fumes can be strong for a moment, so ventilate and keep pets out of the room until surfaces are dry.
Which ingredients should I always avoid?
Phenols, pine oil, quaternary ammonium ("quats"), and most essential oils — especially tea tree, eucalyptus, and citrus — are risky around cats and small dogs. Our free sheet lists all seven.
Are your product recommendations safe?
We only list products we would use around our own pets, and we judge every pick on one rule: safe once dry, and safe if a trace is licked.
Do you replace veterinary advice?
No. We cover everyday cleaning safety. If a pet is sick, pregnant, very young, or may have ingested something, contact your veterinarian right away.
